Important information before joining our horseback riding tours

 

Thank you for choosing to ride with us! To make sure your experience is safe, comfortable, and memorable, please read the following important information before participating in any of our riding tours.

1. Insurance
Please note that any riding you do with us it is on your own risk. Individual travel insurance is not included in the price. We recommend that our customers take out appropriate travel insurance before joining our riding tours.
2. Rider Requirements
All riders must be able to follow the instructions of our guides at all times.
Please inform us in advance if you or your child have any medical conditions, allergies, or physical limitations that could affect your ride.
People under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted on our tours.
We have weight limitation to ride our horses, it is not more than 100kg and the riders must be able to mount the horses themselves and without a step.

 

3. Clothing & Equipment
We supply helmets and rain gear. Please dress according to weather. Good to bring gloves and a hat, windbreakers, hiking/walking shoes are good with our stirrups.
4. Arrival & Check-In
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.
5. Weather & Tour Conditions
Due the poor weather conditions or any other not depending from us reasons plan and distance of the tour may change. We recommend checking the weather forecast and travelling conditions to be sure to SAFE TRAVEL.
We will notify you as early as possible if changes are necessary. Your safety always comes first.
6. Personal Items & Valuables
Please note that we recommend leaving valuables in your vehicle or with a non-riding companion. We are not responsible for lost or damaged items. Lock, zip your pockets before riding.
7. Respect for Our Horses

Our horses are our family members, each of them with great individual personality. Be kind to them and respect they work. Positive attitude helps create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

9. Cancellation & Booking Policy
Please check your booking confirmation for cancellation deadlines.
Late cancellations or no-shows may not be eligible for a refund.
Group bookings and private tours may have separate conditions.

Caution!

Used boots, riding wear etc. must be disinfected before arrival to Iceland. The reason – infectious diseases can easily be brought into the country, which creates a great danger for the horses and other domestic animals.

Amazing Landmannalaugar 5 day riding tour to a geothermal area with a colorful and breathtaking landscape of mountains, lava fields and hot springs.

We are offering an incredible tour to Landmannalaugar a geothermal area with a colorful and breathtaking landscape of mountains, lava fields and hot springs. It will be a tour with emphasis on quality horses and good food. This excursion is only for experience and very experience riders.

You will be riding with a herd of freely running horses. Five days in the saddle which leaves unforgettable memories . The trial where you can see many monuments of nature and beautiful landscapes southern Iceland.

Sleeping bag accommodation.

The tentative itinerary is as follows:

Day 1

08:30 – 09:15 – Pick up at BSI bus station Reykjavik

10:00 -10:30 – Arrive at location where we have a coffee and the horses are selected based on individual rider’s experience

11:30 – We start out tour by riding up into the highlands and enjoy its beautiful scenery. The ride is about 6 hours (40km) with breaks for riders and horses.

18:00 -19:00 –Arrive at Hólaskógur cottage, traditional Icelandic dinner

 

Day 2

08:30 – Breakfast

10:30 – We leave Hólaskógur and we continue our ride across the river Þjórsá, the longest river in Iceland. Riding on the lava fields way witch goes beside 1074 m high Mt. Löðmundur. Our herd of freely running horses will let you remember that day.

18:00 – Landmannahellir located by the high mountains is going to be our accommodation for this night, a cabin where farmers stay while gathering sheep in the mountains.

19:00 – Traditional dinner

Day 3

08:30 – Breakfast

11:00 –We ride from Landmannahellir to Landmannalaugar which is the top of our tour. We ride through the valley Domadal passing Frostastadarvatn lake. We stay there for a while in Landmannalaugar, take a walk around and bath in a hot spring. After that we continue our ride on riding patches and roads from mixed lava and soft sand.

18:00-19:00 – Back at Landmannahellir where we spend a next night

20:00 – Dinner

Day 4

08:30 – Breakfast

11:00 – Start our riding close to Hekla volcano The mythical entrance to Hell and meeting place of witches (last eruption in 2000) with beautiful views on Mt.Vallafell

19:00 – Arrive at Hólaskógur cabin which will be our accommodation for the night

20:00 –Traditional dinner

 

Day 5

08:30 – Breakfast

10:30 – Start our riding which is 6-7 hours (ca. 40 km) through wonderful landscape with sands, mountains, Gjáin – most romantic place in Iceland, rivers and Icelandic forest (you can’t miss that one) nice riding paths which are used by Icelandic farmers to gather the sheep in autumn.
17:30 – Back to the village where we´ll have light dinner.

17:30 – Departure and arriving at BSI around 19:30 – 20:00 o’clock.
